I'm using Windows XP and using since 6 years. But Its make you little surprise that I don't know how to make partitions with 98 CD or perfume FDISK. So anyone please help me to bring any Guide for FDISK or create partition with 98 bootable CD ?

Note that disk-partitioning program (FDISK) will remove all saved data in hard drive.

Insert 98 bootable CD in CD-room drive and restart computer. Choose "start computer with CD-Room support".

It will take you to DOS, starting from hard-drive. It'll look like this
e:\>
Write fdisk and press enter.

e:\>fdisk

It will show five options
1. Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive
2. Set active partition
3. Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive
4. Display partition information
5. Change current fixed disk drive

Press 1 to select the Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive menu option, and then press ENTER.

Press 1 again to select the Create Primary DOS Partition menu option, and then press ENTER.

Assign a size of disk for partition. Suppose you assign 50% for first partition.

Write 50% in disks pace and press enter.

Press ESC to come to main menu.

1. Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive
2. Set active partition
3. Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive
4. Display partition information
5. Change current fixed disk drive

Press 1 to create dos partition or logical dos drive. Now press 2 in sub-menu for "Extended DOD partition option". Assign a space from hard-disk. Press enter.

Press ESC to come to main menu.

1. Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive
2. Set active partition
3. Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive
4. Display partition information
5. Change current fixed disk drive

Press 2 to Set active partition. Choose a drive to set it active. In above example we made two partitions of 50% each. Let's suppose that two partitions are C: and D:

Choose C: to be active and press enter.
Press ESC to come to main menu.
Press ESC again to come to DOS.

Restart computer.

After making partitions successfully...format all drives one by one to make them useable.

Boot from CD windows98 again. Choose "start with cd-room support"

e:\>

find win98 directory location. It will be either on E:\> or A:\>

e:\>cd win98 (enter)

e:\win98>format c:\ (press enter)

Again for second drive
e:\win98>format D:\ (press enter)

That's it. Now both drievs are ready for use.

Welcome MagJ0X. This all was to discuss about how to make partition through win98 CD. This type of partition (win98) allows you to work manually and creates fat32 file system. Though you are able to make partition through winXP CD, that is more simple and you are able to create both fat32 or NTFS file system.
