I have downloaded SmartFTP and have really enjoyed using it. Lately it has been really acting up when trying to open. It takes two or three or more times to open it. Do you think I should reinstall it?

Rather than using SmartFTP, I shall recommend to use FileZilla. I think this is the best free and open source FTP program which can perform all tasks.

Yeah back when I ran a site, I had trouble with smartftp. Forgot what I switched to at the time, probably cuteftp I think.

I have been using Smart FTP for more than a year and I have had no problems with it ever. It always opens up on one try and it is fast to open. Try redownloading it and see what happens.

As qaswer said, you should use FileZilla. I especially like how it keeps a history of you connections so you can just click twice and you're connected.

SmartFTP have made some very bad business decisions.

My purchased license suddenly stopped operating informing me to buy maintenance. "The term of the license is perpetual." (Quote from the website when I bought it and still appears.)

So I couldn't use it to do what I wanted to do. I write to sales (they don't even have a support email) and I get told to download an earlier version because they have changed their policy!!!

The earlier version is not available on their website!

Then I get this reply from their support (oops sorry sales)

Use FileZilla instead. At least it won't stop working and ask you for (more) money...
