I have been having some carpal tunnel types problems and so I bought a natural keyboard. I'm running Windows 7, on a Samsung R505 with 2GB, 2Ghz dual core, all the specs are ok. I have few running processes.

Yet when I plug in the new USB keyboard the system slows up. I can't run videos at all, and other things freeze. What gives? Other USB devices function fine. Could my new keyboard be duff?

Windows OS's are known for having compatibility problems with hardwares. It could be that your keyboard has a conflict with other hardware/s and that this is making the computer very slow. Have you checked if the keyboard is compatible for Windows 7?

I am almost sure that if you check your keyboard specs that you will find that either Windows 7 isn't listed at all or that there is a quote about a possibility of incompatibility.

I wouldn't have bought a keyboard without first checking that it stated that it was Windows 7 compatible. That would be asking for trouble-and I'm not a newbie. Its a Microsoft keyboard, and its listed as 7 compatible-the Microsoft comfort curve 2000. Intellitype is installed, and the computer specs are good.

If this is the case then I presume that your Windows 7 have some issues with .dll files. Have you tried inserting another keyboard to check if it works well?

Oh by the way, I remember that I also have this same problem with my mouse that I inserted in a USB port. I have bought a new mouse which I inserted in PS2 port. It could be possible that the problem is with USB port.

Yes, if it is USB port connection then you want to make sure you have it plugged into the highest powered port. Maybe the keyboard itself is defective. I would check with support.

The ports are all powered, and they haven't any difference in the power level. I have no PS2 obviously since I am on a pretty new laptop.

I've disabled intelitype, and the synaptics touch pad, and oddly it seems to be working ok now. So it may have been a clash of running hardware.

Good to know that you have found a solution for your problem. I guess I was right in my first reply here. I immediately thought about hardware problems because I often have this problem with Windows operating systems.
