IE 8 used to just shut down randomly on me and give me an "Internet Explorer has stopped working, checking for solutions" message. Now, I'll get the message, hit "cancel," and IE stays open just fine! I'm glad it's not shutting down on me any more, but then why the annoying message?

Yes, I've sometimes had that. Most often though it did shut down, and almost always because it hit something on a webpage that it had difficulty rendering. A real pain really.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this problem with Vista. I was beginning to think it was my computer but I have the problem with my desktop and my laptop. You would think that Microsoft would create an operating system that worked with their own web browser.

The few times I have had that issue pop up is when I know I was overloading the machine to the point of its breaking limit. I am talking multiple tabs and multiple browsers open at the same time (either all IE, or a mix with IE, FF, GC). Is that what you had going on when you got the error?

I do often have about 3 tabs open, but is that really pushing it? Maybe I need to upgrade my computer if it can't handle 3 tabs. I've noticed the problem in friends' computers, too, and they always ask how to fix it and I have no idea.

There's no way that three tabs is too much. I often run up to-I hate to say this-twenty or more tabs at a time and I don't have any issues.
