Firefox versus Opera versus Safari versus I.E. ?

I used to be* an I.E. user until I heard of Firefox, and F.F. takes the cake to I.E. any day.

I haven't used Safari or Opera though... and I wonder if they do anything special or better that Firefox can't.

hi!
i have used all the 4 of those browsers and probably you are right that firefox is the best as far as the security is concerned. But i prefer opera over all others as i am using a wireless modem in which i don't get speeds higher than 100 kbps. opera is lighter than all of these. IE has this problem of stucking in between and then you need to close down the window.

hope my answer addresses your query.
thanks

I used Internet Explorer for years until a tech guy told me about Firefox. I had so many problems with viruses coming through on my IE causing freeze ups and other problems. Ever since I switch to Firefox it has been smooth sailing. I haven't had to take my computer in to be fixed every few weeks, as I did before FF. I also love all the great add-ons that come with Firefox. I use my Speed Dial options on a daily basis. I have half a dozen tabs set up under Speed dial, each with 9 X 9 thumbnails. I have been using Firefox for a year now and am very satisfied with them.

My personal favourites would be Google Chrome Link Here or the new Firefox 3.5 Beta which is Uber fast but still uses more resources than Chrome. Click Here

There's no such thing as a "better" browser, there's just the browser that's better for you. My personal favorite is Google Chrome, which I've been using since the day it was released (I'm currently on version 3.0.183.1 of the dev build, in case you're wondering). Even though I use Chrome almost exclusively these days, I still have other browsers sitting around in case I need them, most notably Opera 9.64, Internet Explorer 8, and Firefox 3.0.10. Why so many? Well, I do some web development on occasion and I want to have multiple browsers ready for testing. :)

Agreed many browsers does come in useful, however something I have noticed is if you are web developing as long as your web site conforms to W3C standards Link Here and CSS Stanards Link Here it normally displays fine on all browsers. Also have you tried the FireFox 3.5 BETA? is claims to be ten times faster than its predecessor Firefox 2.0 and two times faster than 3.0.

I have tried out the latest Firefox beta, and yes, it's definitely faster than its predecessors. It's still not the fastest browser I've tried, though — that spot goes to Chrome. Still, Firefox 3.5 is definitely a nice step forward.

I've noticed that Opera doesn't seem to get much love. That's a pity, because it's a great browser. That said, I don't really use it much because it's way too bloated for my tastes.

Of all the current popular browsers, I'd say the worst of the pack is Internet Explorer. IE8 is way better than 6 (yes, people still use this!) and 7, but it's too slow and sometimes renders pages a little funny. Microsoft really has to get on the ball here!

I use a mix of IE, FF and GC when I am in Windows. When I am on the Linux machine It is either Safaria or FF only. I guess I am stuck in my ways or something. :D

I have heard a lot of complaints about the new IE8 lately. I thought it was supposed to be an improvement, but apparently it still has some glitches. For those of you who love Chrome and Opera, what are some of your favorite aspects to those browsers? I am always open-minded and even though I am tickled with FF, I am willing to try the others as well. But, I would like to hear why you love them; before I try them.

IE 8 almost crashed my computer! I had to use system restore. I've never had a problem once with Firefox!

I use firefox, it works great for me.
I like the older version of this, as i got used to the older version.
At first i would not go for IE, coz, it dont have a new tab option, but I.E7 works great.
Firefox provides huge amount of plug-in's and ad-on's....

I prefer firefox, but so many people still use IE that I like to stay well versed in that too.

I use Firefox in my PC. Fire Fox and Opera both are good. Opera is faster but Fire fox has more plug-ins. Fire fox is good as far as security is concerned. IE is prefferd these days. I didn't face any problem using firefox till now. Opera is also good. Both can be preferred similarly.

Opera do a mobile browser which is a big plus as its super fast. Due to them developing a mobile browser that seems to be one of the quickest at the moment I would say Opera is leading the way in technology. However IE8 in windows 7 does seem stable to me, I can't say I've had loads of issues the back button seems to glitch out a lot though. "Clicking back doesnt actually go abck but changes the title etc".
