*Update it actually appeared to be down to a free piece of software called Eraser. Uninstalled problem went away!

Microsoft C++ Runtime Library in Windows 7 Professional

I experienced a problem with right clicking drives in explorer where it would show the error below;
Error: this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
