My PC is funny. When I set it into stand-by mode, the fans are still working. It doesn't happen with the computer in my office. Which is normal and which needs repair?

What fans are you referring to, the Processor fan or the Power Supply fan?

I think this will depend on the type of motherboard if the processor fan keeps turning. I'm not sure about this so don't bank on it.

For me, I wouldn't care if the fans are still turning while they are in a stand-by mode. I would be bothered if the fans are not turning while my computer is running.

Well, the noisy one. I don't know if it is the processor fan or power supply fan. It's not a big deal for me either. I just think that if the fan turns off when the computer is in stand-by mode, I will save more energy and get the fan a longer life.

I forgot 2 more fans, the graphic card fan and the CPU casing fan. The noisy fan in my computer is the processor fan.

I won't worry much about the energy consumption of the fans because they are very small. The hardware that consumes the most energy would be the monitor so I turn it off the monitor instead of putting my computer to standby mode.
