Back in the days when Pentium 1 chips were the big thing, a friend wanted something more. So he over clocked into the 1.5 GHz range and left himself with a system that could have rivalled the sun in the heat it put out. He had no choice but to use hefty cooling, so went with his own water cooled system.

Have you seen one of these? Ever tried to build one? Can you imagine the horrible technical difficulties you'd face-I mean what if your coolant system sprung a leak? Anyway I find it fascinating, despite the huge work-or maybe because of!

My friend in college actually had this kind of computer setup. We even used that computer in making our thesis. The water cooling system is really cool looking and makes the processor stay cool. He got a Pentium 2 back then and he doubled the speed of his processor.

I'm not sure how the water cooling system was made but we haven't experienced any leaks back then.

I saw some overclocked computers in a computer exhibition in my location. They left the computer cases open to show off their cooling system, I guess. I agree with Learner, the cooling systems really looked cool regardless their performance.

When I subscribed to a gaming magazine I came across some photos of gaming computers that were overclocked and used a water cooling system. They looked really cool but not something I'd have the guts to do.

I would think that technically speaking they would be incredibly hard to do. You'd have a lot of work to do to make sure that the water cooling system was perfectly enclosed and couldn't leak.
