Do you have the model version of your printer? I may be able to help you.

Have your tried installing the drivers from the HP website?

HP printer is not automatically installed by XP. You need manual installation through the disk. Check your printer kit you will sure find installation disk for xp. Good Luck!

Insert the installation disk that comes with the printer. Follow the steps. Some setups require plugin the printer first, some require after running the setup. If you get any error setting up the printer through installation CD, go to the manufacturer website and download the appropriate driver.

The drivers for your printer might be out of date and might not work with XP SP2. Go to HP's web site, go to the downloads area and look for your model of printer in their list. You should find the updated drivers for your printer download and install these your printer should work. Good luck! :D
